It is well known as Plitvice Lakes National Park which founded in 1949. It is the largest national park in Croatia and also known as the oldest national park in Southeast Europe which located in the mountainous Karst area of central Croatia sharing borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Covering over 296.85 square kilometers, the Plitvice Lakes National Park was registered as UNESCO World Heritage in 1979 among the first natural sites in the world.
